Cerain Cookbook – culture and creativity as pedagogic method for work with Roma youth and children
With the Swedish Institute’s grant, in cooperation with the Serbian Youth Organization in Sweden, The office for the inclusion of the Roma, Vojvodina Roma Center for Democracy, and the Ministry of education of the Vojvodina province, Terraforming has carried out the project “Cerain Cookbook” in Serbia during April-May 2010.
Cerain Cookbook seminares
During May-Jun 2010 Terraforming has organized a serial of seminars “Cerain Cookbook – culture and creativity as pedagogic method for work with Roma youth and children” in 4 cities in Serbian northern province Vojvodina.
The idea was to gather local authorities, educational and culture institutions, Roma NGOs, and other actors, in order to present new ideas on how to use culture and creativity as a method of work with young Roma.
Young Roma NGOs had the opportunity to present their work, to meet local authorities, educational and cultural institutions.
This was an exchange of pedagogic experiences and methods, network- and capacity building meeting, with aim to support local actors to cooperate and learn from each other.
The results of the seminars, presentations, interviews, and some other materials, are collected in a book (Cerain Cookbook) – a collection of recipes (“cookbook”) for the new interesting methods of work with young Roma, project ideas and experiences that would be use as a support in starting new local projects and initiatives.
With the support of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of culture of Vojvodina province, this publication is distributed to local municipalities authorities, schools, local culture institutions etc.
Among others, our partners in collecting the content for the “Cookbook” were: The Office for the Roma Inclusion, Roma Association “Tovarisevo”, Roma Theater “Suno E Rromengo”, Vojvodinian Roma Center for Democracy, University of Novi Sad – Departement for Pedagogy, Gallery of Matica Srpska and The Ombudsman Office.
