The project “Escalating into Holocaust” is finalized in February 2017. We are happy to announce that the publication “Escalating into Holocaust” is now available in PDF format for free download, and as an online ISSUU publication.

Publication “Escalating into Holocaust” is a collection of selected works, papers, presentations and lectures on topics related to Holocaust research, remembrance and education, presented during the conferences, seminars, workshops and other events organized during 2016 and 2017 in the frames of the project “Escalating into Holocaust”.

Impressive list of authors

Among authors that contributed their works to the publication there are: Dr Milan Koljanin, Institute for contemporary History in Belgrade; Dr Akim Jah, International Tracing Service (ITS) in Bad Arolsen; Dr Susanne Heim, Institute of Contemporary History Munich – Berlin; Dr Sanela Schmid, Researcher in Editionsprojekt “Judenverfolgung 1933–1945” from Nuremberg; Dr Erik Somers, NIOD Institute for War, Genocide and Holocaust Studies in Amsterdam; Mikhail Tyaglyy, Ukrainian Center for Holocaust Studies; Dr Nevena Daković, Film Studies at the Dept. of Theory and History at the University of Belgrade; and many others.

Most of the works are written in English, while some are available in Serbian language only.

Victim’s database, exhibition and teaching material

Also, in the publication you can read more about the project activities and events, and the project’s outcomes and products: a new online database of prisoners of the Sajmište camp (produced by the Historical Archives of Belgrade), Teaching material “Ester” – graphic novels about the Holocaust in Serbia (produced by Terraforming), and the exhibition “October 1941” (produced by Center for Holocaust Research and Education in Belgrade).

“Escalating into Holocaust” initiated by the Historical Archives of Belgrade

The international project “Escalating into Holocaust” was initiated by the Historical Archives of Belgrade with partners from Serbia, Croatia, Netherlands and Sweden: Center for Holocaust Research and Education in Belgrade; NIOD Institute for War, Genocide and Holocaust Studies in Amsterdam, Dept. for Cultural Studies at the University of Rijeka, and Terraforming.

Terraforming was in charge of several segments of the project: organization of international events, production of the project’s website and the publication, development of educational materials, and the project final report.
