Why do we continue to discuss the legacies of the Nazi regime and their collaborators across Europe today? How can we equip young people to critically engage with the history of the Holocaust and combat misinformation about the Second World War and Historical Genocides?<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/terraforming.org\/sr\/\">Terraforming<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intercultural.ro\/en\/home-page\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Intercultural Institute Timi\u0219oara,<\/a> and the<a href=\"https:\/\/arolsen-archives.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"> Arolsen Archives,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/euroclio.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">EuroClio &#8211; European Association of History Educators<\/a> is embarking on a new project, <a href=\"https:\/\/euroclio.eu\/projects\/facts-not-fiction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Facts Not Fiction &#8211; Young Historians Show How to Learn from the Past<\/a> which aims to empower history educators and institutions to train interested students and youth groups to develop their own local histories of Nazi persecution.<\/p>\n<p>For this particular event, we are looking for tour guides and other tourist and heritage professionals who are interested in the Second World War and its incorporation into historical tourism. Those interested in the history of totalitarianism, the Holocaust memorial, and mid-20th century histories of migration and persecution should apply. While the project is primarily focused on Nazi persecution, those with little\/no background in the Second World War as well as those with experience in other related areas of history are also encouraged to submit an application. For example, those who have worked on tours relating to the persecution of the Roma and Sinti or queer and disabled communities by the Nazis\/ authoritarian regimes. If your professional experience is in a period\/ location that is more distinct, but you still feel that it explores related themes, please elaborate in your application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The training will take place in The Hague on 29-31 July with 29 July as the day of arrival for international participants.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>How can you apply to join us?<\/h3>\n<p>The application period will open from the end of May. Please send us a letter of motivation detailing your interest in the project, including an explanation of relevant archives and\/ or source materials you have worked with. Please also attach a copy of your CV and send both to contact @ terraforming.org before 17 June.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to apply early!<\/p>\n<p>The Hague Tour Guide Training will:<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Expand the capacity of tour guides to lead tours relating to the period of the Second World War and Nazi persecution.<br \/>\n\u25cf Draw on the range of historical knowledge and expertise of the participants involved.<br \/>\n\u25cf Bridge the gap between historical knowledge and media literacy to debunk and counter misinformation about Nazism, fascist regimes, and their collaborators<br \/>\n\u25cf Gain a unique insight into the lesser-known histories of victims of Nazi persecution<br \/>\n\u25cf Develop specifically tailored microhistories and local histories that may be often overlooked.<br \/>\n\u25cf Opportunity to participate in exchange with tour guides from other countries<\/p>\n<h3>What is covered?<\/h3>\n<p>We will cover all expenses related to your travel to\/from The Hague, including accommodation and subsistence costs. The day of arrivals will be 29 July and the workshop will end on 31 July in the afternoon.
