Pasostar ando Prastape – Breaking into a Gallop
An International Incubator for Rethinking and Innovation of Education about the Genocide of the Roma during the Nazi Era
IHRA grant for our project on the genocide of the Roma
Our project, “Pasostar ando Prastape – Breaking into a Gallop,” which aims to pinpoint the challenges in education about the genocide of the Roma identified by the teachers, has been selected for the IHRA grant!
The Terraforming team looks forward to continuing cooperation with our colleagues and friends: the main applicant, Centropa from Germany, and the Intercultural Institute Timisoara IIT from Romania and TENET Center for Social Transformations from Ukraine, as partners.
The project aims to organize a series of online and face-to-face workshops with teacher trainers, multipliers, and policymakers from Bulgaria, Czechia, Croatia, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden, and Ukraine. The workshops will introduce the topic of education about the genocide of the Roma and address the lack of experience among educators about specific challenges, such as the lack of feedback from teachers to policymakers, teacher trainers, and textbook creators.
Challenges identified by the teachers, and teachers’ suggestions on addressing these problem
By doing so, it will present opportunities to teach this topic. The main output will be a publication aimed at decision- and policymakers, teacher trainers, and school curricula developers, with a summary of challenges in education about the genocide of the Roma identified by the teachers, and teachers’ suggestions on addressing these problems.
The project aims to back the national implementation of the forthcoming IHRA “Recommendations on Teaching and Learning about the Persecution and Genocide of the Roma during the Nazi Era.”
