International workshops under the framework of the project Pasostar ando Prastape – Breaking into a Gallop
As part of the international project “Pasostar ando Prastape – Breaking into a Gallop: An International Incubator for Rethinking and Innovation in Education about the Genocide of the Roma during the Nazi Era,” we are organizing a series of international workshops. These workshops aim to explore new approaches to educating about and commemorating the persecution and genocide of the Roma and Sinti. The project supports the national implementation of the IHRA’s Recommendations on Teaching and Learning about the Persecution and Genocide of the Roma during the Nazi Era.
Workshop 1, (Mis)representation of Roma and Sinti in Education, Museums, and Memorials was held in Vienna, Austria, on April 7–8, 2025, at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with the Institute of Culture Studies.
Workshop 2, Roma Voices in Education and Memorialization of the Genocide of the Roma, was held in Westerbork and Assen, The Netherlands, on June 10–11, 2025, in cooperation with the Camp Westerbork Memorial Centre.
The third and final workshop in the series, Inclusive Education and Commemoration of the Genocide of the Roma, is held in Belgrade, on October 8-10.
This will be the largest workshop, with almost 60 registered participants from 15 countries around the world, including Croatia, Czechia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and the USA.
