Press Office

Terraforming was founded in 2008 and is based in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Terraforming helps societies engage with the past and empowers them to shape a democratic and inclusive present.

Our programs promote minority voices in Holocaust memory, combat antisemitism and historical distortion, and foster human rights.

We develop innovative methodologies in Holocaust education, such as Ester graphic novels, that allows learners to engage with archival material and storytelling in every step of the learning process.

We serve as a bridge between Serbia, the region, and the international community, advising policymakers, training practitioners, and educating communities in multiple contexts.

Terraforming supports demands for the rule of law and against corruption in Serbia

Precisely because we are committed to spreading knowledge about the historical lessons of the Holocaust, Terraforming supports, and will always support demands for the establishment of the rule of law, free and uncorrupted institutions, a pluralistic society, respect for human dignity, civil and human rights, media freedom, and journalism that adheres to ethical and professional standards.

Statement after the antisemitic terrorist attack in Belgrade

This attack is an overt, extreme manifestation of antisemitism. Explicitly naming and recognizing antisemitism in this context is a vital prerequisite for deepening public awareness. Confronting this specific threat by its proper name is essential for equipping professionals with the knowledge and understanding needed to counter the dangers that antisemitism poses to fundamental democratic freedoms and the entirety of our society.

Statement regarding the antisemitic attack on our colleagues from NGO Haver Serbia

Yesterday, our colleagues from the NGO Haver Serbia in Belgrade were the target of a crude antisemitic attack. At the same time, we extend strong support to our colleagues from NGO Haver Serbia and tell them that they are not alone, that we stand firmly with them, and that there is no place in the Republic of Serbia for extremism and violence inspired by hatred towards Jews, or any other minority community.

“When democratic safeguards weaken, minority rights are often among the first to be affected. In illiberal or hybrid systems, state institutions and public narratives may promote homogenization, making minority communities, including Jewish and Roma, vulnerable to political power-holders. Groups may face loyalty tests, financial pressure, and stigmatization, either through direct coercion or subtle incentives linked to political alignment.”
