Microhistories of the Holocaust and Archival Pedagogy
An international professional symposium “Microhistories of the Holocaust and Archival Pedagogy” was held at the Archives of Vojvodina, which is organized by Terraforming and the Archives of Vojvodina. Our guests were experts from the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, as well as colleagues from Serbia.. The publication “The Holocaust, European Values and Local History“, which we prepared as part of the project of the same name, was also presented at the symposium. The project was supported by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.
The publication is in English and contains texts by some of the most eminent experts in the field, including the Arolsen Archives in Berlin, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, the Shoah Foundation in Los Angeles, Yad Vashem, the Simon Wiesenthal Center in New York, and other experts from the Republic of South Africa to Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and, of course, Serbian experts.
On Wednesday, September 22, at 7 pm, a program with appropriate speeches by officials was officially opened in the Archives of Vojvodina. The event was open to the public, which was also covered by journalists (with obligatory respect for epidemiological measures). On that occasion, a public forum “Microhistories and inclusive culture of memory” was held.
Among the international experts who participated in the public forum were:
- Dr Zuzana Pavlovska, Head of Education at the Jewish Museum in Prague,, Czech Delegate in the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance and Chair of the IHRA Working Group on Education.
- Laura Csonka from the National Archives of Hungary
- Zoltan Toth and Atila Jakab from the Holocaust Memorial Center in Budapest
- Larysa Michalska from the “Humanity in Action Foundation” from Poland
An expert symposium “Microhistories of the Holocaust and Archival Pedagogy” was organized on Thursday, September 23, but it was not open to the public.
