About the project

The project is implemented by the Center for Combating Antisemitism and Intolerance. Anti-Semitism is a form of xenophobia and racism that can be most easily defined as hatred of Jews. Antisemitism is always based on prejudices, stereotypes, falsifications, lies and myths. Antisemitism is sometimes directed at non-Jews – individuals, groups or organizations that anti-Semites consider Jewish or identify and associate with Jews even if they are not. It can focus on hatred of individuals – ordinary citizens or famous and public figures, of the ethnic and cultural identification of Jews, of Judaism as a religion, of the State of Israel as a symbol of the Jewish collective, of real or imagined Jewish institutions and organizations, and of political, scientific, philosophical, and other attitudes, movements, and ideas, whether they objectively have to do with Jews or not.

Project objective

The aim is to spread awareness of anti-Semitism as a serious threat to democracy in every society, the need to systematically oppose it, as well as to contribute to the fight against anti-Semitism and other forms of hatred, intolerance and discrimination in the Republic of Serbia through concrete activities of the association. The specific objective is to provide a constructive contribution to the work on the implementation of the European Union Strategy for Combating Antisemitism and Support to Jewish Communities (2021-2030), i.e. the creation of an appropriate national action plan in the Republic of Serbia that will include the three basic postulates of the Strategy: preventing and combating all forms of antisemitism, protecting and supporting Jewish communities, and education, research and fostering a culture of Holocaust remembrance.
