Remembering Hilda Dajč Award Ceremony 2022.

In the University Library “Svetozar Marković” in Belgrade, 8. May 2022 year, for the first time, the Remembering Hilda Dajč Award Ceremony was held.

The winner of the Remembering Hilda Dajč Award for outstanding contribution to the remembrance culture is the Historical Archive of Belgrade for its work on the Jewish Digital Collection.

The winner of the Remembering Hilda Dajč Award for social responsibility and active contribution to the community is the Center for Youth Integration from Belgrade for the “Drop in Shelter” program.

The award ceremony was supported and enhanced by the presence and address of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Thomas Schieb, Ambassador of Israel, His Excellency Yahel Vilan, Ambassador of France, His Excellency Pierre Cochard and Representative Embassy of Austria, Ms. Karin Traunmüller, Chargé d’Affaires.

Award for outstanding contribution to the remembrance culture

The winner of the award for outstanding contribution to the remembrance culture is the Historical Archives of Belgrade for its work on the Jewish Digital Collection .

The award was presented by Lidija Šuica Župančić, a teacher of art culture, NGO “Education for the 21st Century” from Belgrade and a member of the board of the Remembering Hilda Dajč Award

Youth Award for social responsibility and active contribution to the community

The winner of the Youth Award for social responsibility and active contribution to the community is the Center for Youth Integration from Belgrade for the program ” Drop in Shelter ” and the engagement of young volunteers within this program.

The award was presented by Dr Nenad Lajbenšperger, a historian from the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia in Belgrade and a member of the board of directors of the Remembering Hilda Dajč Award.

The director of the Historical Archives of Belgrade, Dragan Gačić, MA , pointed out that the Jewish Digital Collection project is one of the most important that his institution has been dealing with lately. This process began several years ago in cooperation with Terraforming. According to him, the work of researchers and archivists who made this data available will make a significant contribution to the memory of Holocaust victims.

The coordinator of the project, Mina Medić, pointed out that this recognition is very important to them, especially because it arrives on the 15th birthday Drop in Shelter.

The winners of the Youth Voice are:

Youth Center from Novi Sad  for the Mobile Youth Club (MOK) for youth empowerment and inclusion of young people with disabilities.

The diplomas were awarded by Verena Huber , a student at the Faculty of Education in Linz, Austria, and Ines Matin , a student at the Faculty of Education in Sombor.

Sombor National Theater for the play “Semper idem”.

Theater representatives did not attend the ceremony.

Project manager Dajna Marinković thanked for the fact that their work was recognized and pointed out that it will motivate them to continue in this direction, and to expand some programs. She also praised the idea of involving young people in the process of selecting the award winners and being able to make decisions and express their opinions.

Claudia Fahrenwald from the Faculty of Education in Linz, Austria, and Snezana Strangaric from the Faculty of Education in Sombor participated with groups of their students in an educational program on the Holocaust organized by Terraforming in recent months. Groups of students from Serbia and Austria got acquainted with the life of Hilda Dajč and participated in the process of selecting the winners.
