Dikh he na bister – Look and Don’t Forget

2. August 2016

“Dikh he na bister” – Look and Don’t Forget is an initiative with aim to mobilise young Roma and non-Roma to commemorate and learn more about the Roma Genocide during the WWII, through annual gathering of young Roma in Auschwitz around August 2nd – the Remembrance Day of the Roma Genocide.

The event was organized by TernYpe – International Roma Youth Network and its partners. The initiative aims at raising awareness among young Europeans, civil society and decision-makers about the Roma Genocide, as well as about the mechanisms of antigypsyism in a challenging context of rising racism, hate speech and extremism in Europe. This year several hundreds young Roma from all around Europe participated the 7-days event, consisting of visits to the memorial sites, Auschwitz Museum, meetings with survivors, educational workshops, and of course – with music and meetings between new and old friends from all over Europe.

Terraforming was there, too, in support of the initiative. We contributed one of the facilitators during the educational workshops.

Also, we were working with our partners: filming and interviewing in the frames of the project “Porajmos/Samudaripen and Roma Identity
(a project by Radio La Benevolencija HTF in partnership with Terraforming and TernYpe more info www.tajsa.eu).
