International Conference and Workshop for Museum Educators and Teachers
The Holocaust Memorial Center in Budapest organized a two-day International Conference and Workshop for Museum Educators and Teachers, “Fragmented Memories: Holocaust Education in the 21st Century,” from April 18 to April 19, 2024. This event was dedicated to commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Holocaust in Hungary.
The participants, hailing from diverse backgrounds and countries including Hungary, Israel, the USA, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Romania, the Republic of Srpska/Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, had the privilege of experiencing the beautiful space of the Páva Synagogue, today part of the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Budapest.
Terraforming’s authentic methodology “Ester”
We are honored and humbled that Miško Stanišić have been one of the speakers at the conference, where he shared the stage with esteemed experts from institutions such as Yad Vashem, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum USHMM, POLIN Museum, Zachor Foundation, Sered Holocaust Museum, The Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights, and the event hosts – The Holocaust Memorial Center Budapest.
Miško was invited to present Terraforming’s authentic methodology for developing educational graphic novels “Ester” during the conference segment dedicated to the Innovative Approaches in Holocaust Education.
Exciting presentations
Among other exciting presentations, we could hear Noa Mkayton (Yad Vashem) telling us more about the challenges of teaching the Holocaust after October 7; Andrea Szőnyi (Zachor Foundation / IHRA EWG) who introduced the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance – IHRA resources for educators and its practical application in teaching, Oana Nestian-Sandu (The Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights – TOLI) on interdisciplinary approaches to Holocaust, Human Rights and Intercultural education, and Tanja Tuleković who told us more about the education in the Memorial Area Donja Gradina.
