Jewish Cemeteries of Vojvodina

Cultural Monuments and Testimonies of Community

With the support of the European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative (ESJF), Terraforming and the Jewish Community of Novi Sad are organizing a series of visits to recently renovated old Jewish cemeteries throughout Vojvodina, with guided tours and lectures.

We invite all interested citizens of all generations to join us in visiting these important sites in Kisac, Temerin, Erdevik, Stara Pazova, Ruma and Novi Sad, as well as in the talks that we will have in local cultural centers.

As part of the program, visitors will have the opportunity to hear short, exciting lectures on the life of the Jewish community in Vojvodina, the symbols and signs on Jewish tombstones, and the contemporary culture of remembrance of the Holocaust.

The program is free of charge. Visitors are provided with simple finger food and refreshments. Transportation from the city center to the cemetery and back is provided for those who apply. Follow the detailed programs for all the places listed.

Program

Monday, October 28

Erdevik 14:00 – 16:00

Visit to the Jewish cemetery in Erdevik with expert guidance: 14:00 – 14:45. The attendees will also be addressed by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Anke Konrad.
Transportation from the center of Erdevik to the cemetery and back will be provided upon registration.
Discussion and lecture at (we will announce the exact place): 15:00 – 16:00.

Thursday, October 31

Stara Pazova 11:00 – 12:00

Visit to the Jewish Cemetery in Stara Pazova with expert guiding: 11:00 – 12:00
Transportation from the center of Stara Pazova to the cemetery and back will be provided upon registration.

Ruma 13:00 – 15:00

Visit to the Jewish cemetery in Ruma with expert guiding: 13:00 – 13:45. Transportation from the center of Ruma to the cemetery and back will be provided with registration. Discussion and lecture at (we will announce the exact place): 14:00 – 15:00. Lecturers:

Friday, November 1

Kisač 11:00 – 12:00

Visit to the Jewish Cemetery in Kisač with expert guidance: 11:00 – 12:00
Transportation from the Jewish Community of Novi Sad to the cemetery in Kisač will be provided upon registration. And then there’s Temerin.

Temerin 12:30 – 13:30

Visit to the Jewish Cemetery in Temerin with expert guidance: 12:30 – 13:30
Transportation from the cemetery in Kisač to the cemetery in Temerin will be provided upon registration. After that, visitors will be transported to the Jewish Community of Novi Sad.

Novi Sad 14:00 – 15:00

Discussion and lecture in the premises of JONS: 14:00 – 15:00. Lecturers:

Information

Participation is free of charge. All citizens, young and old, are welcome :) Apply to reserve a place for professional guidance and later for lectures and interviews. A detailed program for each individual place will be published on this page and on social networks, and we will also send information to everyone who has expressed interest in participating in one of the visits. We offer refreshments and refreshments to the participants. If you need a ride from the city center to the Jewish cemetery, please register your interest and we will contact you to discuss the details. The number of places for transport is limited, and priority will be given to elderly and disabled people.
