Multipliers and Gatekeepers of Holocaust Records in European Memory Data Space

Terraforming will host the event “Multipliers and Gatekeepers of Holocaust Records in European Memory Data Space” on November 20, 2025, at the Uilenburgersjoel Synagogue (Grachtenzaal) in Amsterdam. Organized within the European Memory Data Space (EMDS) – Blueprint project and funded by the European Union’s CERV program, this half-day event will bring together experts and practitioners to explore how digital transformation is reshaping the ways we preserve, share, and teach about the Holocaust and to help shape the blueprint for a future European Holocaust Memory Data Space.

The program includes three thematic sessions:

Progress-1 Progress-1

1. Trust, Excitement, Synthesis

Exploring how memory professionals can see technology not as a threat but as an opportunity to enrich and expand their work and knowledge

Exploring how building trust in digital tools and infrastructures — the less visible yet essential foundation of long-term, sustainable work — can nurture excitement about innovation. How can curators, museum educators, teachers, artists, and other creatives see technology not as a threat but as an opportunity to enrich and expand their work and knowledge?

Progress-2 Progress-2

2. The Journey to Synthesis

From inspiration to implementation – thoughts and best practices on integrating new digital approaches into existing frameworks

Focusing on practical pathways to integrate new digital approaches into existing frameworks and practices — and on the data itself: how we digitize, curate, and sustain it for future generations. What mindset do we need when we understand that this is not only our data, but data shared across time, institutions, and diverse usage scenarios?

Progress-3 Progress-3

3. Beyond the Archive

Envisioning the future of educational outreach and engagement through creative and interactive digital tools

Looking ahead at how education in the digital memory sphere can evolve, expanding beyond traditional archives to engage learners through creativity, interactivity, and shared human experience. This session frames use cases that illustrate how the future European Memory Data Space can enable such examples, providing concrete visions of how today’s prototypes can grow into tomorrow’s interconnected ecosystem.
