TAS – Thesis, Antithesis, Synthesis – Migration Labs

TAS Labs, debates and roundtables will analyse historical experiences, narratives, misconceptions and stereotypes relating to migrants and refugees, xenophobic discourse, hate speech and anti-immigration propaganda. We will be looking into our own experiences of emigration to other countries, as well as our experiences, responsibilities and challenges as a transit or host countries in the past and current refugee and migrant crises. Ester - teaching material and educational concept based on the graphic novels’ language

Ester graphic novels are a teaching material, its most important part being a series of dramatized stories about the Jewish victims killed in the Jewish Camp at Sajmište (Judenlager Semlin) near Belgrade. The stories focus on young victims and their families, their pre-war life, the life under the German occupation and during the Holocaust. The novels are based on real historical characters, true historical events, testimonies, historical documentation and material. An international team of experts worked together on creating the stories in order to preserve historical accuracy, the illustrations being a creation of an international team of artists.

The European Library Platform
for Holocaust Education

The project aims to create a large-scale European library network aiming to develop the framework for a collaborative platform of international resources for Holocaust education – contributing educational content to national and international holocaust Memorial days commemorations through multilateral cooperation of National Libraries of Europe and North America. 

Project Librarians Archivists

Librarians and Archivists in Teaching and Learning about the Holocaust

With aim to empower Serbian archivists and librarians to take a more active role as multipliers in teaching and learning about the Holocaust, Terraforming is organizing a series of activities including expert exchanges, study visits, trainings and seminars in Serbia and abroad. A particular goal is to encourage archivists and librarians to develop their own educational content and outreach programs, focusing on local history, documentation and other local sources. The activities are scheduled throughout 2018 and 2019, organized in cooperation with various international partners such as International Tracing Service ITS from Bad Arolsen (Germany), Yad vashem (Israel), House of the Wannsee Conference (Germany), and others, as well as with Serbian experts and organizations. Participants from national, regional and local Serbian libraries and archives are participating the program with huge enthusiasm and commitment as the entire program is self-financed and all costs are being shared by participating institutionsThe initiative is a part of Terraforming’s broader program on exploring new ways for, and new actors in teaching and learning about the Holocaust.

The Porajmos / Samudaripen
and the Roma Identity

A new-media series about causes and consequences of the Roma genocide in WWII in 12 European regions, with a particular focus on Roma identity building and self-empowerment, in cooperation with expert historians, local Roma communities and Roma media broadcasters. The project output will be a series of 24 episodes of audio & video podcasts, and educational materials about the life of Roma before, during and after the Porajmos/Samudaripen.

Reading and Writing with Anne Frank in Serbia

In cooperation with the Anne Frank House Amsterdam, Terraforming translated the internationally acclaimed exhibition “Reading and Writing with Anne Frank” and adopted the educational methodologies around it for use in Serbia. Since early 2015 the it has been presented in more than 25 cities around Serbia, involving more than 60 schools and libraries in the program. Additional trainings are organized for teachers and librarians. The exhibition is received with great enthusiasm. Due to the large interest it is booked for at least 12 months ahead.

Escalating into Holocaust

Escalating into Holocaust

Focusing on the victims of the concentration camp at Sajmište – a death camp for Jewish women and children from German occupied Serbia, the project expands the view from local to European perspectives and further examines the Holocaust and its defining impact on the common European values in post-war Europe. Project outputs: database of the Holocaust victims of the concentration camp at Sajmište, exhibition “October 1941”, educational materials and 7 international events in Serbia, Netherlands, Sweden and Romania.

Fortune Tellers Future

A creative cooperation between Swedish artists groups, Serbian Roma-theatre, and local Roma communities, with aim to empower and inspire young Roma not to drop out from schools, but to continue their education in higher educational instances. Beautiful artworks, “guerilla style” unannounced performances at public spaces, series of exhibitions in local cultural spaces in 3 cities, public debates, school visits and a new theater production – all conducted in the frames of “Fortune Tellers Future” project.
